a few thoughts on family

I realize that this has not been a place for me to share very many personal thoughts and events but after I captured these shots on Father's Day, I felt like I couldn't just post them without saying a few things. In the last few years, I have become acutely aware of how lucky I am to have the family that I do. God has brought us through so much and because of that may parents and brother and sisters and I have a bond that is rare. I can honestly say that my parents have become some of my closest friends, by choice and my siblings are at the top of the list of people I prefer to be with. In the last few months, lots of things have occurred that will change our future as individuals and as a family and I am so excited to see where God is taking us. I never realized what a blessing it would be to watch my parents enter, what I consider to be, the prime of their lives. My parents are moving into new challenging jobs that excite them and provide endless opportunities to live out their refined faith, my awesome brother and sis-in-law are preparing for their first child in December, Rach and I are navigating the crazy world of education and of course Mandi, taking on the world with a huge heart and more wisdom than most people her age could ever hope for. Thanks for letting me gush a little, I love these people more than I could ever explain. I hope you find ways to appreciate what makes your family special too.....
P.S. We had some awesome food on Father's Day too, couldn't leave this shot out, had to make your mouth water a little :)
